• I know how about where on earth does the highest volume of organic cotton come from? Well back in 2001 Texas produced the most organic cotton, a whole 8,338 acres to be exact, now that’s a whole lot of cotton. Other close contenders include Arizona and sunny California

• Here are some big figures the world production of organic cotton amounts to a massive amount of 6,000 tons fibre and that’s annually with around 0.03% of global cotton production. Though the U.S kicked organic farming off to a flying start back in 2001, it’s now Turkey who’s ahead of the organic game. Producing a grand total of 29%.

 

 

So where does the organic cotton journey start?

The organic cycle begins with an organically grown seed (of course). Though if certified organic seed can’t be located, an untreated seed may be used. But it must by no means be derived from genetically modified plant, for this would defeat the original purpose; not to mention seriously breaking all the organic farming rules!

Is that all which makes Organic production different?

• No it certainly isn’t. Producing organic cotton puts into practice cultural methods and techniques, combined with natural fertilizers and biological controls. Rather than horrid and harmful synthetic fertilizers and those ugly pesticides!
