Equal Opportunities Policy

 

The London Fashion Forum (LFF) is situated at 28 Station Approach, Hayes, Bromley, Kent, BR2 7EH and is committed to providing high standards of training and advice to small and medium size businesses and individuals wishing to set-up their own businesses within the apparel industry.

 

STATEMENT

 

The LFF is dedicated to the principle of social justice and it aims to provide an environment where all individuals have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

 

The LFF expresses its opposition to any and all forms of discrimination, harassment and inequality that may exist in society, whether they result from age, race, colour, disability, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, gender or sexual orientation.

 

The LFF is also conscious of the external influence it has with the numerous individuals and organisation it liaises and interacts with and endeavour to ensure that this influence shall be used to promote equality of opportunity.

 

Equal opportunities is the responsibility if all employees at the LFF, with a special onus on the Directors and management team to ensure that all proper procedures are in place and that the policy, intent and aims are well publicised and adhered to.

 

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES STATEMENT

 

1.  Access to and participation for all customers

 

1.1. The LFF will endeavour to improve its accessibility to all clients

 

1.2   A clear statement of the LFF’s commitment to equal opportunities will be given in all publications.

 

1.3   The LFF is committed to developing learning support systems appropriate to the needs of all customers.

 

1.4.   The LFF will consider the needs of those on low income

 

1.5   The LFF programmes will reflect within the practical limitations of our budget, the needs of the local community.

 

 

 

 

 

2.   Marketing, Publicity and Public Liaison

 

2.1   The LFF will work towards researching the developing needs of all groups within the local community in order to provide appropriate training and support.

 

2.2   Liaison with job centre, community centre, voluntary organisation, schools, social services and local industry will be maintained

 

2.3   Publicity material aimed at minority groups will be in appropriate language format.

 

 

3.  London Fashion Forum Offer

 

The LFF offers each customer a total experience from the client’s reception through to all services available. All LFF staff subscribe to this objective.

 

3.1.   Resource materials used to deliver our services shall be free from discriminatory assumption, images and language relating to ethnic origin, gender, sexuality and physical, sensory and learning disability.

 

3.2   The LFF will seek to develop opportunities of flexible learning.

 

3.3   The LFF will attempt to meet the needs of the long-term unemployed, those returning to work after a period of domestic commitment and those unable to work due to disability.

 

3.4 The LFF will provide services to give a second chance to people whose linguistic or cultural background, gender, disability or other circumstances have made it difficult for them to benefit from support, guidance and training.

 

3.5   Within the practical limitations of the budget, learning support will be provided across the LFF.

 

3.6   The LFF will actively and positively encourage the integration of customers with disabilities into the centre and will offer support and training to all staff to ensure this integration.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.  The London Fashion Forum Environment.

 

4.1.   The LFF will work towards creating an environment in which all staff and customers feel comfortable, regardless of ethnic origin, sexuality, disability or previous level of attainment

 

4.2.   All staff and potential customers will receive a positive welcome from the first point of contact

 

4.3.   Guidance and counselling given to customers or potential customers will be non-discriminatory in terms of gender, ethnic origin, sexuality or previous level of attainment.

 

5. The Selection, Recruitment and promotion of staff.

 

5.1   Recruitment to all positions within the London ARC will be carried out in a manner which accords with the Staff Recruitment Code of Practice.

 

5.2   Recruitment and selection training will address equal opportunities issues as outlined in this policy statement.

 

5.3   Where part-timers perform work similar to that of full-time employees, they will receive the same pro-rata terms and conditions in accordance with the provisions contained within the conditions of service approved by the LFF Board of Directors.

 

6.  Staff Development

 

6.1   All staff will be made aware of their responsibilities in implementing the London Fashion Forum Equal Opportunities Policy.

 

6.2   Induction of new staff will include training on the implementation of the London Fashion Forum Equal Opportunities Policy in regard to supporting staff and meeting the needs of its customers.

 

7.  Monitoring and Evaluation

 

7.1 The Director will require the management team etc to set targets for implementing this statement monitor and evaluate progress and report on action taken.
