FCFTA Leicester
Recruitment Event – JCP – Pegasus House
FCFTA (Leicester) were invited to a recruitment event at Pegasus House Job Centre in Leicester on Wednesday 23rd March.
Pegasus House is the main Job Centre for 16-24 years old’s – but this event was open to everyone and there were over 40 businesses at the event. Many were recruiting for available jobs in the city and others like ourselves were offering skills and education.
FTA Leicester were promoting their free Course in Level 1 Stitching and also discussing apprenticeships course opportunities.
Jackie – Manager FTA: “Thank-you to the Community Renewal Fund, the fact that we can offer FREE courses to those that need it most is amazing. Many of the people we chatted to at the event were so keen to learn a new skill, to improve their English speaking, build their self-confidence and improve their prospects of employment. We have seen our learners shine whilst learning at the academy and we are looking forward to welcoming our next group of learners in April.”
Compliance Support as a part of the Community Renewal Fund
Fashion-Enter is working in partnership with LCC and DMU to provide skills and compliance support to Leicester businesses as part of the Textile Renewal Project.
Leicester is a real hub of textiles and garment making in the UK with a variety of businesses in one place – garment makers, print houses, dye works and embellishment and textile makers – you name it Leicester has got it.
As part of this support TJ from Fashion-Enter has been providing compliance guidance and support to some of these businesses in Leicester. This support has been so well received and the meetings have been really constructive.
TJ HR and Compliance Officer at Fashion-Enter: “It has been great to be able to support the representatives at these sites with information and advice on certain areas of improvement in order to strengthen their own ethical compliance management systems. I feel that the support has been extremely well received and is something that I hope to continue to be able to provide during the remainder of my visits to the companies registered on the programme.”
Learner’s Words- Level 1 Stitching
Leicester’s second group of Level 1 stitching learners are coming to the end of their course – we asked them to tell us about their experience of learning at the FCFTA in Leicester, with courses funded by the Community Renewal Fund.
Valentine: “I would recommend this course, if you want to learn how to use the machines, how to sew, how to thread a machine then the Fashion Technology Academy is one of the best and the teachers are amazing.”
