CPPD’s – To Engage, Interact & Inform

It was fantastic to welcome 10 employees from George at Asda for a Factory Uncovered CPPD at the London factory last week. The participants from the merchandising, buying and sourcing departments gave excellent feedback on how much they learnt about the entire garment life cycle, with plenty of informative information that they can utilise within their own jobs.

Now that we are able to welcome people on site, as well as offer virtual tours, we are launching a new CPPD workshop: ‘The Micro Factory Uncovered’ – Sustainable and ethical garment manufacturing today.

This is a 4-hour interactive workshop at our fully compliant factory showcasing traditional garment making versus the latest sustainable technologies! The session will introduce: the latest 3D fitting software, the Kornit digital printer Presto, the Zund Master cutter and how Atlas works to create an on-site, on-demand Micro Factory concept. Individuals will learn about the impact of new technologies on garment making today! What is one-piece flow, Custom Gateway, Bulk and Bundle V’s consumer pull demand.

Learn about the Sustainable Micro Factory Concept today!

Is Fashion Now Unfashionable?

Fashion has had so much negative press lately and it’s now almost at a point where fashion is unfashionable! People’s concerns about Covid, work, mental health matters’ and the environment have taken priority and as such they can see that they can make do with their current wardrobe. The current uncertainty of ‘Freedom Day’ this week with still high cases creates that stop-go in retail. This is why we are currently focussing on small intimate classes for upcycling, repairs and alterations at our Stitching Academy and at our shop on Fonthill Road. We are here to genuinely help!

N17 Creative Callings (N17CC) participant Angela Britton is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer based in London and runs ‘The Daily Dream’ from her studio in Tottenham, selling prints and accessories based on her designs. Here’s what she had to say about N17CC and the free support and business advice she has received:

“I think it’s amazing that Haringey offers this N17 Creative Callings service to support creatives like me. I have had my first meeting with Fashion-Enter and we already have a plan of action on the direction of business. This is a free service for local residents and after Covid it’s just what businesses need. My sales have already gone up in just a week and I am really impressed with how professional, helpful and friendly Fashion-Enter have been. And I think it’s incredible that this level of tailored support is free to local creatives. Thank-you to all concerned.”
