In It Together…

25-03-2020

Newsletter 25th March 2020

Dear all,

Covid-19 Update & Fashion-Enter Ltd

The Fashion-Enter Ltd team sincerely hope that you are all keeping healthy and well. It is indeed, a very difficult and worrying time, however we are all in it together and we will get through this so long as we keep to the parameters enforced by government. MAKE UK has provided up-to-date guidance for manufacturers based on Government guidelines. Tap here to read these.

As for Fashion-Enter Ltd we are still open and operational. Staff that can work from home are doing so, along with Fashion Technology Academy learners. All learners are now working with their tutors remotely with concise work plans, tasks and assessments.

Factory and Fashion Studio staff that are fit and well are still coming in to work. We have an important role to play in this crisis and will be making items to support the fight against the spread. More on this later. We are also dedicated to not letting our clients down and potentially harming their businesses. We have stringent hygiene and distancing practices in place and staff can choose whether to work or not at this time.

N17 Creative Callings Website Now Live!

To ensure that all the information, services and events for the ‘N17 Creative Callings’ business support initiative is clear and easy to source Fashion-Enter has set the project up with its own website.

Visit: http://n17creativecallings.com/#home-section and find out how we can support your creative business.

The project, funded by the Greater London Authority and the European Social Fund, and supported by Haringey Council, will work with Londoners and small businesses within the Tottenham Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ) to boost Haringey’s Creative Industries. Fashion-Enter has partnered with Collage Arts which is a leading arts development, training and creative regeneration charity based in the heart of Haringey’s Cultural Quarter.

Watch Out for our ‘How To’ Guides

Each week on our social media channels we will be featuring a ‘how to’ guide, time to dust off your sewing equipment / machine and get practising! In the first one we show you how to sew on a button properly and securely – let’s get mending!

Meet the Fashion-Enter Team

Each week we’ll be sharing fashion career stories and tips from the team. This week we meet Elle, our Garment Technologist. She reveals how she got involved in the industry and her career path to date. Next time she’ll be talking about the role of a garment technologist; key aspects of the job and the skills and attributes required by apparel employers.

Steph Talks ‘Factory Uncovered’ Tours

“The team have been keeping busy with the very popular ‘Factory Uncovered’ tours throughout the start of 2020. Our tours are tailor made to meet the specific requirements of each group, for example the most popular topics of discussion are the development and design process, sourcing and buying, plus innovations and ethics of the fashion industry. We are the only UK factory with leading status in the Fast Forward audit and we can therefore show open costings and what to look out for when working with unethical or disreputable factories.

“We have many companies and educational institutions that visit us regularly, such as London College of Fashion, the Fashion Retail Academy and Trent College, and it’s not only for their fashion students but business students amongst others too. We always have such brilliant feedback and that is what spurs us on to keep going, to help the next generation realise their potential and discover new opportunities.”  – Stephanie Knapp, Fashion-Enter Brand & Development Manager.

Supporting British Manufacturing

“Many thanks to Laura and Rachel from Careaux who made contact with us this week asking to support British Manufacturing. How kind is that! How kind that these two lovely ladies rang up and have put in an order for T-shirts giving 100% of the profits to local charities and with the aim of keeping our machinists busy.  We were all totally overwhelmed.” – Fashion-Enter Ltd CEO Jenny Holloway.

Quality Licence Scheme Audit

“We have passed our annual quality licence scheme audit with flying colours! Quality Licence Scheme has been designed specifically to recognise our commitment to high quality courses. It also offers the freedom to develop courses that meet industry needs.

“Being approved for our Quality Licence Scheme demonstrates to the people we work with that we are committed to delivering quality learning. It also shows that we have been endorsed by a leading national awarding organisation by the Skills and Education Group Awards.” – Esme, Fashion-Enter Operations Manager – Education & Learning
