Fashioning The Future

Newsletter 15th May 2019
Dear all,
Team of 6 at FESPA Munich
This week six of the Fashion Enter / Fashion Technology Academy team are at the FESPA Global Print Expo in Munich. There they are providing live demonstrations to showcase the educational and top-notch production services we provide for the fashion manufacturing industry.
CEO of FashionCapital / FTA Jenny Holloway said: “Last year we were invited as guest speakers at FESPA and the event opened our eyes to a whole new world of digital technology – absolutely amazing. This year we have been invited to showcase the stitching skills of our workforce and advanced learners from the FTA; we are also showcasing our own range – Belles of London too. It’s a privilege to be asked to showcase at such a major international event.”

Dalores added: “This has been the best experience of my life – we have met 100s of people in the live factory set up at FESPA and I have shown people my stitching skills that I have learnt at the FTA. I want to go to Madrid 2020 FESPA now!”

Next Monday: Fashioning The Future
Our CEO, Jenny Holloway, will be joining the likes of Mary Creagh MP (Chair of Environmental Audit Committee) and Edwina Ehrman (Senior Curator at the V&A) amongst others at the Young Fabians panel discussion on ‘Fashioning the Future’. As climate change hits the headlines on a daily basis fashion has been named as being responsible for 10% of the carbon footprint of the world as well as it being the second greatest polluter of local freshwater globally. Looking to implement positive change and find ways forward this discussion invites all to join the debate, ask questions and hear how politicians, brands and advocacy groups are advancing business, cultural and environmental policy discussions in this area.

Monday 20th May from 7.30pm at Fabian Society, 61 Petty France, London SW1 to register click here.
As Seen in Vogue Business

Faced with a shortage of talent, Britain’s only couture house, Ralph & Russo, has launched a training scheme for artisanal skills and craftsmanship with Fashion Enter Ltd and the news of this couture apprenticeship programme was announced last week in Vogue Business.
Co-founder Tamara Ralph revealed in the article that it has been extremely difficult to recruit for artisanal roles in her London atelier. “To this day you get hundreds and hundreds of applications a year for design positions, but there is a very small pool of young people who want to learn craftsmanship.”
Fashion Enter CEO, Jenny Holloway added: “I think [fashion craftsmen] have been the poor relations to an extent. [For most fashion students] the desire is to be a designer. But it’s so difficult to have your own brand and be successful. We need to stop this mindset that construction or garment-making is second to being a designer.”
