Zünd UK Join Fashion-Enter’s Micro-Factory Concept
News of Fashion-Enter’s partnership with Zünd has been featured in several industry-focused magazines and websites. The instalment of the Zünd D3 Digital Cutting technology at the Fashion-Enter factory in north London is part of a forward-thinking, sustainable micro-factory concept that also combines printing technology from Kornit Digital and support from ASOS.
Dean Ashworth, Sales and Marketing Director at Zünd UK said: “The project is aimed at brands and retailers; we want to demonstrate to them how they can create a sustainable manufacturing facility in the UK. We believe on-shoring apparel manufacturing will support the growing trend for made-to-order and ethical production. Furthermore, technology and production strategies are developing to deliver the capabilities needed to reshape the fashion industry. Zünd single-ply cutters are setting new standards in speed, efficiency, and accuracy. The Zünd D3 cutter delivers ultimate performance and productivity with two cutting beams operating simultaneously with sophisticated nesting algorithms increasing material yield and helping to keep production costs low.”

FC Designer Workspace…Almost Ready!
This week we were able to see inside in the new FC Designer Workspace in Islington before the final building works take place in time for the Community Launch event on 29th July.
It was fantastic to see the refurbishment of the underground garages come to life. The affordable workspace will provide training and employment opportunities, as well as private studios for local creatives to rent and grow their business. Fashion masterclasses, business mentoring and networking events will be hosted on site, as well as sewing masterclasses and accredited Level 1 courses in stitching and patterns.
The visit was attended by Councillor Asima Shaika, Director of Inclusive Economy and Jobs, Caroline Wilson and local MP Jeremy Corbyn, as well as the team from the council, the GLA and architects who have all made this concept a reality. We can’t wait to open the doors of the FC Designer Workspace.

A Meeting with David Jones
A stalwart of the London fashion industry David Jones has over 45-years experience in this competitive and fast-paced sector. It was 20-years ago this month (June) that David was appointed Chief Executive of the London Fashion Forum (LFF) and its accompanying fashion portal FashionCapital! Yes, indeed, FashionCapital is 20-years-old! The project director back then was Jenny Holloway and much like Fashion-Enter today the aim was to create and support new fashion businesses. David has mentioned that the project was ‘the most enjoyable 4-years of his business life’ and looking back the LFF achieved a great deal in a short period of time.
Zip forward 20-years and David and Jenny continue to support and work together on various industry projects including ‘Behind Bras’- providing training for women in prison. This week the pair met to discuss their latest initiatives that aim to take the industry forward.
Saying Goodbye to Julia
Senior patterns tutor Julia has left to start a new chapter – to live by the sea. The team are very sad to see her go, she has been an excellent teacher to many students, warm, insightful and clear. Last week we held a small leaving party for her and we wish her the very best for the future.
Julia commented: “After 5 wonderful years of teaching at Fashion-Enter, I have, with a heavy heart left. I am starting a new adventure by the sea. Building up our pattern cutting courses and teaching some wonderful students, has been the most special and rewarding job of my long fashion career.
“My colleagues are a talented, caring and empathetic team. It has been a pleasure to work with them all. FTA learners come from all walks of life – from absolute beginners to Fashion Design BA students. The feedback from all of the FTA classes has been amazing and I now pass it on to two wonderful people, Lan and Petra.”
