AI in Fashion Conference Today

The FEL team, in partnership with InnovateUK KTN and Style3D, are thrilled to be hosting today’s AI in Fashion conference which is currently underway. Attendees, braving the typically British weather, include individuals from industry brands, media and education.

Dr Steve Morris from Innovate UK KTN opened the event along with FEL’s Founder, Jenny Holloway. Throughout the conference attendees will hear from; Eric Liu, CEO at Style3D,

Anne Toomey from the Royal College of Art, Kate Goldsworthy from Chelsea Arts, Hilde Heim from Manchester Fashion Institute and Peter Witham, Designer working for brands such as Under Armour, Lacoste and Nike.

The conference will discuss the growing use of AI across the entire fashion production process; from textiles and design to manufacturing and track and trace and will culminate in a roundtable discussion moderated by Dr Steve Morris. Attendees will also get the opportunity to tour the Styleverse Innovation Centre, factory and United Repair Centre.

Jenny comments: “What exactly is fashion AI? This is what the conference is all about. There is so much talk about how AI is disrupting the future of our glorious fashion industry for the better and the conference provides an open platform to hear from experts and discuss ideas.

Huge thanks to partners InnovateUK KTN and Style3D also to Drapers for covering the event and all that attended.”

Amazing Feedback from the HOPE-FX Launch

Last Friday, 16th February, we held a launch event for our first cohort of HOPE-FX participants.

The HOPE-FX project gives young people, who are recovering from mental health conditions, the chance to produce their own unique, t-shirt designs and, with the FEL team, learn and see the entire process through from design sketch to high street.

The launch provided the perfect opportunity for the participants to showcase their work to their family, friends and local press. Supporting the initiative, MP’s Lord Young of Norwood Green and Jeremy Corbyn for Islington North were in attendance.

Jenny commented: “HOPE-FX has brought out the good in so many people – thank-you. The launch was all about the participants and it was their day to razzle and shine. They were spectacular and the smiles said it all. Family and loved ones were invited and a sense of pride and achievement was in abundance. The air was one of excitement!

“Thank-you to all the guests that came along. Zac Holloway, HOPE-FX was your idea be proud!”

If you would like to see HOPE-FX designs or other pieces by local Islington based designers please pop by the FC Designer Collective shop, 113-115 Fonthill Road, London N4 – opening times: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 – 17:00

And Finally…

Did you see FEL’s founder Jenny Holloway talking to ITN News last Thursday 15th February? She was discussing the news that the latest data reveals the UK is in a technical recession.

Jenny commented: “Having ITV here to discuss how there is a technical manufacturing recession, I think they are right, I think the sector is generally down and we really need to bring back garment making to the shores of the UK which has so much to offer with proximity sourcing and speed of response.”
