Seasalt and Beyond Retro Join Forces to Create Repurposed Denim Designs

Repurposing continues to rise amongst established brands and the latest news in this arena comes from the contemporary Cornish clothing brand, Seasalt Cornwall.
Seasalt Cornwall has just released, March 2025, limited-edition, repurposed denim designs in collaboration with Beyond Retro.

Seasalt and Beyond Retro have an aligned goal to give quality fabrics a second chance while paving the way for a more responsible clothing future. Both brands are dedicated to this purpose, through Beyond Retro’s entire offering of vintage clothing and the obvious benefits this brings, and Seasalt’s longstanding simple goal – to craft beautiful clothing that inspires, endures and reduces impact on the environment.
Seasalt Chief Creative Officer, Laura Watson said: “Beyond Retro has always been a brand that is firmly on our radar. Their unique offering and brand ethos directly aligns with ours at Seasalt. We knew that whatever we worked on together would need to be true to both brands in terms of responsibility as well as offering an exceptional product to our customers.”

Designed to reduce textile waste within the clothing industry, the capsule collection consists of three popular Seasalt silhouettes, reimagined for the collaboration, including cropped jeans, a pinafore dress and a workwear style jacket. Each piece is made in patchwork denim using pre-loved, post-consumer denim sorted in Beyond Retro’s factory in India, giving the fabric a second life and preventing it from ending up in landfill.
The three garments were chosen for their enduring appeal, with these popular shapes reappearing season after season. The patched denim and utility aesthetic of the jacket also puts it firmly on trend for 2025. The design mirrors Seasalt’s best-selling Reading Rocks jacket which is a firm favourite with fashion influencers and was worn by actress Brie Larson in 2024.
Beyond Retro X Seasalt is part of Seasalt’s newly launched Creative Circularity initiative, whereby the brand will be pioneering creative ways to improve environmental and social impact, across the product lifecycle. Great care was taken to reduce the environmental impact of this first collection through its design. Using recycled, pre-washed denim that’s already in circulation bypasses the manufacturing and dyeing process normally used for virgin denim and by using a precise number of patches for each piece, along with incorporating existing seams, any waste has been further minimised.
Steven Bethell, co-founder of Beyond Retro added ‘‘We are thrilled to partner with Seasalt on this first collection. A collection that draws on fabrics from the past to create fashion forward cutting-edge designs. The denim industry is set for a major resurgence in 2025, with denim dominating global runways and fashion weeks. So, with this in mind, this exciting collaboration has been getting creative with denim; sifting through an ocean of second-hand materials, they’ve reimagined classic designs in a collection that is unique and perfect for modern life.”
The collection is available in sizes 8-18 online and in selected Seasalt shops.
