Applications Now Open for the International Woolmark Prize 2026
17-06-2026
A major opportunity for emerging designers has officially opened, with Woolmark announcing applications for the next cycle of the International Woolmark Prize (IWP) – one of fashion’s most prestigious global awards celebrating innovation, craftsmanship and the creative use of Australian Merino wool.
For more than 70 years, the International Woolmark Prize has helped launch the careers of some of fashion’s most influential names, including Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino Garavani, Gabriela Hearst, Rahul Mishra and Bode. Today, it continues to act as a global platform for emerging talent, supporting designers who are shaping the future of fashion through creativity and material innovation.

As the Prize enters its next chapter, Woolmark is expanding its eligibility criteria to reflect the evolving nature of fashion careers. Designers who have gained experience either through independent labels or within established fashion brands and organisations are now eligible to apply. This update recognises that many designers build significant expertise long before launching their own names – whether through leading collections, driving product development or shaping creative direction within major fashion houses.
Following the application stage, selected designers will be invited into a programme of development opportunities, including industry engagement, mentorship and global exposure through the Woolmark network. The initiative is designed not only to spotlight creative talent but also to support commercial growth and long-term brand development.
At its core, the International Woolmark Prize continues to champion innovation in design while showcasing the versatility, performance and sustainability of Australian Merino wool across the global fashion industry.
Applications are now open. For eligibility and further details, visit: https://www.woolmarkprize.com/apply/
