GFW 2018 Day 3 – The Arts University Bournemouth

Aspiring to nurture and accelerate commitment and innovation, The Arts University Bournemouth presented just that, whilst exhibiting their visually impressive and eclectic collection during Tuesday’s outing at Graduate Fashion Week 2018. Critical thinking and analysis were elements which imbued each collection, ultimately showcasing the course’s level of diversity and creativity, along with its undercurrent of commercial realism.

Larissa Siems

Geometric shapes transpired heavily amid the shows. Larissa Siems kick-started fashion proceedings with her bold, modern and geometric colours and silhouettes that gave the collection a real futuristic edge, outfitted in mauve, white and orange with fluorescent footwear. Geometric occurred in the form of graphic prints at Sophie Fidalgo, where these were translated onto oversized menswear pieces that arrived striking with draping detail – all in a palette of monochrome, grey and orange, projecting a sporty and street vibe aesthetic.

Isabel Taylor

Getter Vader

Isabel Taylor was a standout and overall crowd pleaser. Psychedelic prints were in collision with abstract patterns, stripes, colour-blocking and tie-dye that adorned knotted tunics, draped dresses and tailored pieces. Getter Vader’s designs were beautiful and came bedazzled with sparkles, featuring asymmetrically pleated skirts, delicate gossamer column dresses, wonderfully layered, draped and cut jackets and coats – further accessorised with eye-catching, sparkle-encrusted earphones.

Tabby Coaker

Bronwyn Muir exhibited an array of cosy and oversized knits – featuring a dichotomy of patterns, with sumptuous furs, onesies, XXL cardigans and super puffer coats. Tabby Coaker brought fun, frills and fairytales with her sartorial offering that welcomed a riot of colour on patchwork dresses, sequined sleeves and a multitude of layering. The collection imbued a pretty and retro vibe, with adorable accessories including tiaras, socks with diamanté embellished stilettoes and oversized sparkly sunglasses.

Leona Kirk

Leona Kirk channelled a superhero edge with metallic cape-esque cloaks, colour abstract patterns and face masks. Poppy Donovan, Elizabeth Welland and Megan Crosby were all additional standouts – bringing a plentiful abundance of fun, colour, texture and a diverse artful nature to the stage.
