As the Assistant Creative Pattern Cutter you will work alongside and assist our pattern cutter/s and design team at SK Studios.
The role will include:

Making and adjusting patterns for mainline, second line and bridal collections.

Working on ladies soft separates, woven, jersey wear and sometimes tailoring with many different kinds of materials (chiffon, georgette, satin, crepe, delicate fabrics, stretch fabrics, tailoring fabrics).

Adopt different methods of cutting to make patterns from both flat designs and moulage (garments made by draping on a mannequin).

Creative manual pattern cutting, developing you own design ideas.

Liaise with sample machinists regarding constructions and organising of toiles and sample garments to be made.

Interpret patterns and make amendments as required after attending toile and sample fitting meetings.

Working with the designer to inspect sample garments before producing final patterns for factories.

Make spec sheets with Microsoft Excel for factory production.

Create technical drawings with ADOBE Illustrator for spec sheets.

Some prototype garment construction.

Cutting toiles and fabrics.
Skills needed:
-
Creative and good technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting and textiles across multi product types.

Ability to interpret design sketches into first patterns, liaising closely with designers.

Computer literate essential, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft excel experience very useful.

Some experience of both machine and hand sewing skills for toile making.

Good understanding of size specification and knowledge of grading.

Good communications skills with designers, machinist, product manager and factories.

Flexible and reliable and accustomed to working towards tight deadlines.

Creative and good eye for design and product details.
Working hours will be 10am – 6pm. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required, in order to meet deadlines for shows and presentations.
Reporting to Creative Director and CEO.
