The Awards, sponsored by INVISTA CORDURA® Brand, who have over 100 award winning fabrics, is an international competition open to students from around the world. Students must be 18 and over as they may be offered a placement in one of the five countries, and this year the competition is open to collaborating Universities from the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Portugal studying fashion, textiles and design.
‘VISION’ will consist of two to three Universities from each of the five countries and De Montfort University, Bedford College and the University of Northampton have already added the competition into their 2017/18 syllabus.
This year’s event requires students to imagine the future of fashion and create their visions of professional clothing (Corporatewear, Workwear and PPE) that is sustainable for the chosen sector. Producing innovative, style focused performance wear designs for the future, the students will be asked to design diverse durable clothing for both men and women.
The Awards honour the students’ creativity with industry recognition, cash prizes and the chance to have their garments showcased on a LIVE catwalk at The Professional Clothing Show, which will take place three times a day over three days and on the catwalk at the prestigious Awards gala dinner.
The panel for The 2018 Professional Clothing Awards will consist of industry experts, academics, designers, garment technologists and previous winners, each bringing their rich background and expertise to the table. Judging will be held on 1st March, 17th May and 18th May 2018 at The Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Milton Keynes.
