Shop Talk
Paul Smith Goes to Market
{mosimage}Paul Smith has just opened a new shop on the edge of Borough Market in South East London. Borough Market is the place to pick up fresh produce in a historical London setting. Film makers often use the area as backdrop and in recent years several top-notch restaurants, bars and clubs have opened there.
You would, however, be hard pushed to find a clothing store in the locality. Paul Smith had this to say on why he chose Borough for his latest shop: ‘I opened in Borough Market because I love the area! I love the buzz; it is full of energy and many characters of London. In many ways it reminds me of Covent Garden all those years back. My first shop in Floral Street I opened in 1979 when Covent Garden was absolutely empty apart from the Opera house, Ballet school and a fruit and veg stand.’
The grade two listed shop will house casual clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women along with some of Paul Smith’s curiosities picked up on his travels.
The Paul Smith Borough shop opens from today.
