Dolce & Gabbana Sentenced To 20 Months Jail For Tax Evasion

21-06-2013

Proving this, an Italian judge has ruled that Dominico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana will serve a term of 20 months prison sentence. On Wednesday the Italian designers were found guilty of over €800million of unreported sales and dodging tax on these undeclared goods.

Mixed responses of shock came from the outcome with the hash-tag #freedolceandgabbana soon trending on twitter.

The sentence will also come with a hefty fine of €500 million. Although this may appear as just a slap on the wrist compared to the original sentence request of 2 and a half years for the designers, this also results in the designers missing out in  4 major fashion seasons.

The designers, who didn’t appear in court for the sentencing may also be joined on their sentence with D&G’s lead accountant, who may be sentenced to 3 year imprisonment for being the ‘main orchestrato of the evasion scheme’

The designers are yet to comment on their sentences, which are currently being suspended while their appeal pends.

Does this mean our D&G goodies are now an accessory to crime?
