Susie Hargreaves is new Chief Executive of SDC

The Society for dyers and colourists has appointed Susie Hargreaves as their new chief executive due to the retirement of Ken McGhee at the end of October 2008. Susie's previous experience role was in a CultureWorks UK, which was founded by Susie in 2002 specialising in business development, marketing and events management. Prior to the creation of Susie's successful CultureWorks UK brainchild, she achieved the title of first chief executive of Audiences Yorkshire.

Throughout the past 11 years, SDC Council has sanctioned Ken McGhee in the role of chief executive to push its advancing modern Society with capabilities of withstanding sustainable stature whilst continuing to flourish in this day and age. Ken's office duration consisted of many a rectified challenge tackled over a period exemplified by unprecedented change, increasing globalization, advances in technology and, perhaps most significantly, unparalleled demands and time restraints on Society members in the workplace.

Susie Hargreaves considerable experience and expertise in finance, management and marketing will bring these vital attributes to succeed in her new role at the Society. In her career so far, her monumental success in assisting the progression or reputations, influence and triumphs of numerous household name organisations.

‘Whilst respecting its history and traditions, Susie will bring to the Society the skills and qualities necessary to lead the SDC in the challenging times ahead,' says SDC honorary secretary, Peter Duffield. ‘We have an ambitious agenda and Susie will help us gain greater recognition and support for our aims and objectives in the coming months and years.'

Susie states in return, ‘I am delighted to be joining the SDC at such an important time in its future development. I'm excited by the prospect of working with the team – both staff and trustees – to build on recent successes and ensure it is a thriving and sustainable 21st century organisation.'

Nominated as a finalist for a ‘European Women of Achievement Award' in 2004, Susie was awarded a Clore Leadership Fellowship in 2006. She is a trustee of the Northern Ballet Theatre and a secondary school governor.
