And statement chunky necklaces, earrings and bracelets are set to remain in 2021.

Nose Piercings

As one of the most popular piercing parts, nose rings, studs and screws came out as the most popular body jewellery in 2020, aside from the traditional lobe pieces. Body jewellery has increased in popularity over the last few years, and searches for nose piercings has increased by 27% in the last three years. Celebrities who flaunted their nose piercings in 2020 include Miley Cyrus, Perrie Edwards and Demi Lovato.

Huggie Hoops

The 2019 trend of huggie hoop earrings continued to be popular in 2020. Huggies are a style of hoop earrings which hug the earlobe. Thicker than the standard hoop they are often adorned with crystals for optimum sparkle.

So what trends can we expect in 2021?

Michelle Tabios-Tacdol, Buyer & Designer at jewellerybox comments:

“Based on the trends we saw hitting the SS 2021 runways, we’re expecting statement earrings to be extremely popular next year, with the likes of Prada, Giorgio Armani and Stella McCartney all showcasing statement earring on their catwalks. Mismatched earrings were also prominent on the runways, featured in collections by Adeam and Ulla Johnson to name a few. Therefore, we’re expecting these to be a huge trend in 2021.

“Pearls are set to make a comeback in 2021, with designer names such as Simone Rocha, Tibi and Erdem reigniting the pearl jewellery trend in their SS 2021 collections and celebrities such as Ariana Grande beginning to adorn pearls towards the end of 2020.

“Necklace layering has been very popular this year and the trend is set to continue. We know how hard it can be to find the right combination of necklaces to layer with each other, so we’re planning on launching a range of necklace sets that are the perfect combination in 2021.”
