EEF Employment and Skills Policy Committee – March Meeting

As a member of the EEF, The Manufacturers’ Organisation, Employment and Skills Policy Committee, Fashion Enter regularly attends industry meetings to exchange ideas and discuss ways forward for the development and growth of UK manufacturing industry. The EEF has a powerful voice in leading, championing and celebrating UK manufacturing. Key manufacturing issues are openly discussed and the EEF committee aims to ensure the industry is consistently in the government and media spotlight.
On the 13th March 2017 at the EEF HQ in London, Martin Flavell, Chair, opened the meeting which went on to discuss key skills and production issues including the much debated ‘Brexit’ and key strategies to put forward to government to ensure a favourable outcome for UK manufacturing.
The half-day agenda included these key topics
- The National Retraining Scheme – How can we shape it to meet needs of manufacturers?
- Government response to Taylor Review – Employment status – Agency workers – Increasing transparency
- Battling Brexit: The Migration Minefield – EEF’s survey – EEF’s recommendations
- EEF response to T Levels
Followed by a lunch with Anthony Jenkins, Chair of the Institute of Apprenticeships.
