School for Social Entrepreneurs visit The Factory
School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) is a charity that supports people using entrepreneurial approaches to tackle complex social problems. Their vision is of a fair and equal society where the potential of all people is fully realised. SSE invests in individuals from all backgrounds who have practical ideas for change.
During their site visit of the Factory and Fashion Technology Academy the budding social entrepreneurs were particularly interested to learn what makes us a social enterprise and how CEO Jenny Holloway has achieved what she has with Fashion Enter.
Starting out as a business support organisation for young designers Fashion Enter today is able to offer short courses and opportunities to long term unemployed and those looking for an opportunity to succeed in the industry with their own label. The group learnt how we secured funding from Haringey Council to open the Fashion Technology Academy and with further support from ASOS could now run short practical courses in Stitching and Pattern Cutting.
Jenny spoke openly about the highs and lows and offered real, genuine advice for those looking to achieve a similar goal with their own ideas around helping people.
