DATA PROTECTION – Important New Regulations to protect your personal data

April 22, 2025 - April 22, 2025

A new, Europe-wide, regulation comes into force soon which will affect you. The regulations are called GDPR, which stands for General Data Protection Regulations. They are designed to give you more control over how your personal data (such as email addresses, phone numbers etc.) is handled.

The changes come into effect on 25 May 2018 and apply to all organisations that handle personal data of any EU citizens. The British government have already said that the regulations will continue to apply in the UK even when we leave the EU.

As a forward thinking, ethical, business we at Fashion Capital want to follow best practice in this area. If you are a subscriber to our Newswire or any of our services we will have personal details such as your name and email address on file to enable us to communicate with you.

Under the new GDPR rules you are entitled to:

* see what data we hold about you (free of charge)

* have inaccuracies in any data held about you corrected

* have information erased (and forgotten by us)

* data portability (to be provided with an electronic copy of the data relevant to you)

* to make complaints to the Information Commission Office

We will soon be emailing you our Privacy Notice which tells you what you need to know about how we handle your data.

GDPR adds to, or supersedes, existing legislation on data protection, which up to this point has been provided by the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.

If you have any questions on Data Protection please don’t hesitate to contact us, or, to research information for yourself, visit the Information Commission Office website (https://ico.org.uk/ ).
