Newsletter 30th October 2019

Dear all,

Fanfare please! The state-of-the-art Tailoring Academy is coming along very nicely and with the launch date scheduled for November we are delighted that Nick Beighton, CEO of ASOS.com is confirmed as a guest speaker.

Nick comments: “ASOS.com has long been a supporter of ‘Made in the UK’ brand. In 2008 ASOS.com provided Fashion-Enter with funding for their Stitching Academy and then further funding for the Fashion Technology Academy in 2015. We are delighted now to see that the success of high-level technical training has continued to extend to the new Tailoring Academy, which is going to create 50 jobs, plus help to create 750 apprenticeships for the future. The Tailoring Academy will act as a hub linking local talent to experts, specialist training, professional development courses, equipment and opportunities; ASOS.com is very proud to be part of this innovation.”

Working With Her Majesty’s Prison Service

CEO of Fashion-Enter Jenny Holloway talks about our on-going training links with Her Majesty’s Prison Service:

We have been providing training services for HMPS over the last two-years and we are now delighted to expand our range of courses to include cutting.  No one really understands the complexities of cutting until you have to start creating lay plans for mass production. HMPS offer many services for stitching including T-shirts and curtains so it’s imperative that fabric, fabric properties, critical V non critical faults, lay plans and the use of all the different types of cutters are fully explained and put into practice whilst operating in a fully compliant environment. We are really looking forward to meeting the team this week.”

Nick Gould to Step Down as SME Alliance Chairman

This week, 28th October 2019, SME Alliance chairman and Fashion-Enter’s Legal Eagle mentor, Nick Gould, announced that he is stepping down from his role as chairman after a duration of 4-years. He will stop at the end of November along with other director’s so that the organisation can then have the benefit of a new team. The SME Alliance is a member-based organisation set up to support, share knowledge, network and lobby with, and on behalf of, SME owners who have fallen victim to banking, financial and regulatory misconduct. In an ideal world it should not need to exist however in reality the work of this organisation is crucial.

Fashion-Enter CEO Jenny Holloway comments: Nick is one of the most genuine kind-hearted solicitors I have ever come across. Over the last four-years Nick has chaired the SME Alliance and has fought tooth and nail to support the little guys against the big banks and their mis-sold contracts. I know he has made a difference to scores of people and we wish the incoming chairman the very best of luck.”

Fashion Studio Client: LoveYourLook

LYL | Love Your Look, is a new workwear fashion brand with a difference. It caters to the young, ambitious woman on the rise, with a work hard, succeed and play hard ethos at its core.

Established in October 2019, LYL was founded by Chierika Onyuku-Opukiri a British born, business strategy consultant of Nigerian heritage. While working in banking, she was inspired by the style and elegance of strong female leads on shows like Scandal and Suits. Upon research, time and time again she noticed that many of these amazing and empowering workwear outfits were very high-end and out of reach for women on the rise.

She created LYL with Fashion-Enter’s Fashion Studio production team to fully cater to the lifestyle of the stylish professional woman with the aim of becoming the ultimate workwear choice for style conscious women.

Chierika comments: “Moving from finance to fashion with no prior experience was not an easy task. Had I not worked with Fashion-Enter and the Fashion Studio, I would not have been able to create our collection and learn so much about the design process. Their involvement was critical and they proved to be an invaluable resource.”
