Manufacturing Services Now Available at Fashion Hub
On the 5th of September 2024 FEL’s new Fashion Hub, based at Phoenix House, 1st Floor, 1 King Street, Leicester, LE1 6RN, was launched. The aim of this Hub is to provide upskilling programmes for the garment making workforce of Leicester, as well as centring on safeguarding and creating new jobs for the industry.
Consequently, FEL is delighted to confirm a range of new industry services for Leicester. Working with partners, FEL will be now offering:
- Pattern making services
- Sample making services
- Short run production
- 6 Rs (recycle, reprocess, redistribution, repair, recommercialise, repurpose)
Jenny Holloway, FEL CEO commented: “With the success of our current 6R programme we are delighted to confirm that we are now offering industry a range of specialist services, soon to be available from our new Fashion Hub at Phoenix House. We are aware that the garment manufacturing industry has fallen on hard times recently, but we are now in a position to employ the best tailors from Leicester to facilitate textile longevity.”

Next Week LCB Depot 20th Anniversary Events
LCB Depot offers workspace, venue hire, exhibitions, events and more to support Leicester’s creative community. Next week (7th – 12th October) LCB Depot is celebrating its 20th anniversary and the FEL Fashion Hub team will be engaging throughout the week.
On Wednesday 9th the Fashion Hub team will be involved with Good Works: The Creative Industry as Problem Solvers, with informative advice and a repair workshop. While on Thursday 10th the team will be present at events throughout the day, as well as hosting a Meet and Mingle from 5pm, to provide an informal opportunity for fashion creatives in the region to network.

Skills Bootcamp for Garment Workers
If you are a garment worker in need of expanding your production skills then Skills Bootcamp is for you! Employers today are looking for universal machinists that can expertly operate a range of production machinery. The Skills Bootcamp in Garment Production Techniques at FEL’s Fashion Hub in Leicester provides flexible 4-week courses tailored to the individual.

FEL’s HOPE-FX Programme Shortlisted for HSJ Award
The FEL team is thrilled that their HOPE-FX project, in collaboration with North London Mental Health Partnership, has been shortlisted for a HSJ Award, in the Early Intervention and Prevention category. On Monday 30th September FEL was invited to give a short presentation to the judging panel and the outcome will be revealed at the HSJ Awards ceremony taking place on 21st November. Fingers crossed!
ASBCI Autumn Conference
FEL Founder and CEO, Jenny Holloway, has been invited to speak at the ASBCI Autumn Conference next month. Titled ‘Artificial Intelligence in Fashion’, Jenny will join representatives from ASOS, Insider Trends, The Fashion Guild, Recomme and others, to present their knowledge on how AI is already revolutionising the industry, driving innovation, and creating competitive advantages. FEL at The National Apprenticeship & Education Event – North London
Members of the FEL team will be at the up and coming National Apprenticeship & Education Event for North London next Tuesday 8th October. Taking place at Saracens StoneX Stadium, Hendon, London, this careers event is designed to inspire young people from aged 15 and up, with their education and career journey. The event is open to schools, sixth forms & colleges, parents, guardians & individuals. Members from FEL will be on hand with UKFT to offer advice on apprenticeships, courses and career pathways for those interested in the fashion and textile sector.

Style3D 3-Day Course
Course tutor Sophie has just held another successful 3-day course for beginners using Style3D software.
The students were introduced to the Style3D interface and its applications. Step-by-step guidance was provided on how to create bespoke avatars, change the measurements, colours, hair and footwear. The course also gave instructions on how use garment blocks and adapt them, as well as how to select digital fabrics and details and apply them to projects.
Feedback from the students included: “I have learnt the fundamental features of the Style3D system and how to start a project. How to change a pattern, adjusting on the model and how to showcase it on the rendering. Thanks to Sophie and Lan.”
