Live From FashionSVP
It’s the second and final day of FashionSVP at Olympia London and on the Fashion Enter stand the team are demonstrating their fashion production know-how as well as providing ‘drop-in’ practical workshops to reflect some of the skills that are required to make quality garments. If it’s sampling and production that you are after members of the team are on hand to answer all your questions until 5pm today.
Fashion Enter Career’s Open Day
Fashion Enter is offering an invaluable experience for students at schools and colleges in the local area of Haringey to experience first hand the wide variety of jobs available in the fashion industry today. Every step of the garment life cycle will be covered, including areas that require STEM and industry expert skills – giving real insight behind the scenes. Students will be invited to tour the Factory and Fashion Studio as well as hear all about the industry and ask questions.
Fashion Enter Career’s Open Day: Monday 8th July 2019 at Fashion Enter Factory/FTA Unit 13, Crusader Estate, 167 Hermitage Road, London N4 1LZ. From 10.00 – 16.00.

Important Parliamentary Meeting for Apparel Manufacturer’s
The All Party Parliamentary Group for Textiles and Fashion Enterare organising a meeting at the Houses of Parliament on July 8th to discuss which visas and why, our sector needs in order to continue to thrive. The meeting will take place from 10am – 12pm in Room C of 1 Parliament Street. Lord Young has confirmed his attendance, if you are a British manufacturer, designer or work directly with British production please email: rafaella.defreitas@fashionroundtable.co.uk if you would like to attend. ASBCI Members’ Technical Visit to Fashion Enter
On Tuesday 25th June a group of ASBCI members’ were invited for a Technical Visit at Fashion Enter. Representatives from the likes of Whistles, Next Retail, Shop Direct, Dimensions and Matalan attended, along with ASBCI’s Chairman, Dr Alistair Knox and the organisation’s Editorial and Strategic Advisor, Sue Waters. Fashion Enter CEO – Jenny Holloway, Production Director – Caroline Ash and Senior Tutor – Julia Burrows discussed their various departments with the group along with the effective use of the Galaxius System and how it traces every stage of the garment production process to ensure the Factory is fully transparent and compliant.
Jenny comments: “Grateful thanks to Alistair Knox, Chairman and Sue Waters for organising the ASBCI visit to our ethical factory; it was great to welcome the group. The ASBCI is a unique association with a wide membership base across the industry from fibre to garment making. We were very impressed with how genuine ASBCI is and clearly has technical and commercial competency too. We were very happy to answer questions that were diverse and deep and hope that everyone had a positive experience of SMETA and Fast Forward approved factory.”
Fashion Boot Camp Heading Your Way
On Saturday 13th July we will be hosting an all-day Boot Camp that will cover a broad range of industry topics and information that you need to know to create a successful fashion brand. From production to finance, sales to press and PR. This seminar will include expert industry wisdom along with the option to gain one-to-one advice. TR Pattern Cutting Taster This Weekend
TR Pattern Cutting (Transformational Reconstruction) is a form of origami pattern cutting which translates into immediate and intuitive 3D creations, in opposition to the more conventional way of drafting.
Claudette Joseph has been using and teaching TR pattern cutting for seven years, she is a five times TR Master and a three times TR Super Master, she holds regular classes and workshops in this creative form of pattern cutting, annually she holds a master workshop in her Essex studio with the creator and founder of TR pattern cutting Shingo Sato a truly inspirational Japanese artisan.

How exciting our learners have been involved in creating a couture show-stopper for Ralph & Russo. The design house needed some extra help with time-consuming handwork – to cut and stitch flowers on a voluminous dress and Kini, Mhteb and Elvis came in help and ensure the piece was ready for Paris on Monday 1st July. Emmanuelle said: “I wanted to tell you a huge thank-you for sending us learners to help with collection.”
New Apprenticeship Posts On Offer
Two new apprenticeship positions have just come in for Sistaglam based in Hendon. They are recruiting for an apprentice Merchandiser Assistant and Production Assistant, these along with roles for Erdem, Fashion Enter and the FTA/Tailoring Academy can be found here.
Haringey’s Festival of Learning
The Fashion Technology Academy will run an event to support Haringey’s Festival of Learning on Wednesday, 10th July. The festival is a local initiative to get local residents involved into what goes on in their borough and encourage them to pursue training in a particular field. The FTA event will be from 10am to 1pm and will comprise the following:
– Tour of the factory
– Pattern cutting exercise (half size inverted pleated skirt)
– Sewing a wallet
– Garment Life Cycle apprentices to give their experience on the job/course.

We have been working with designer Zoe Corsellis on her launch collection Retro-Futurism with a focus on high-end finishes and quality made designs. Created here at Fashion Enter in North London Zoe was adamant that ethical manufacturing and sustainable fabric provide the very backbone of her brand.
