Upcycling Pop In This Secondhand September

Yesterday, 12th September, the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road held its first drop-in repair and upcycling day. In collaboration with Islington Council, local residents could use the fully equipped shop and receive support with a repair, alteration or upcycle.

The key aim is to encourage individuals to maintain and wear existing clothing items for longer.

FEL Development Coordinator Gee said: “Feedback from the day was really good, with nearly all saying they would visit again and recommend to someone else. Some had never used an industrial machine so we helped them practice before going ahead with their upcycling.”

These drop-in repair and upcycling workshops are being held at the FC Designer Collective on a monthly basis. The next date is Tuesday 17th October.
