Drapers Awards 2024…Tonight!
Back in March FEL was proudly awarded ‘Sustainable Fashion Champion of the Year’ at the Drapers Sustainable Conference and Awards. Now in November, FEL, and its forward-thinking approach to manufacturing, has been nominated again, this time in the ‘Fashion Supplier of the Year’ category for the Drapers Awards 2024.
The team are thrilled that Drapers, along fashion and textiles peers, recognise FEL’s dedication to ethical and sustainable practices. This is a proud moment for our team that is striving for a better, more responsible fashion industry. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in the city of London tonight. Fingers crossed and good luck to all nominees.
Sustainability in the Early Years Sector
Yesterday, FEL Founder and CEO, Jenny Holloway was invited to join a panel discussion at the Nursery World conference. It was fantastic to be a part of a supportive group exchanging ideas on ways to become carbon neutral in every aspect. Jenny talked about the various ways FEL has worked with the likes of LEYF and Kids Planet Day Care creating sustainable products such as bedsheets, tote bags, aprons, shoe covers and additionally a celebration patchwork blanket.
FEL is dedicated to working alongside clients to find the most sustainable options for their product needs whilst flying the Made in the UK flag and safeguarding local employment.
Thank you to June O’Sullivan OBE for all the ongoing support.

The use of deadstock from the fashion trade is an issue that many suppliers and brands are starting to address, the Bootcamp covers this issue on the 72-guided hours course and asks students to explore their ideas and to keep inline with the commercial market…watch this space for some amazing ideas appear over the next 6 weeks!
Skills Bootcamp provides individuals with the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer.

And Finally…Time to Get Happy
With Global Entrepreneurship Week coming up, 18th – 24th November, and the theme ‘Entrepreneurship is for Everyone’, it seems only right to shine a spotlight on those setting out on their entrepreneurial journey. This week, FEL CEO, Jenny Holloway met Lucy Hawkins and was introduced to her brand: House of Happy Threads. The pair initially met at the recent 1230 Finance for Business Women event and Jenny could see fantastic potential with Lucy’s unique brand.
House of Happy Threads is a handmade clothing business based in West Wickham with a focus on bold, bright designs with lashings of disco and festival appeal. Specialising in soft jersey leggings for kids and adults featuring colourful prints that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and make you feel like dancing!
Lucy works with other independent female businesses to create these original designs and is part of a wider network of female entrepreneurs all supporting each other through social media.
