Join Us & Learn All About New Garment Manufacturing Processes

We have created a new short course that combines all the elements of making in the UK. Entitled ‘Award in New Garment Manufacturing Processes Today’ at Level 4 this half-day seminar is a deep dive into all the areas of manufacturing that buyers, merchandisers, undergraduates and designers need to know. This includes open costings, lean flow, 16 on and 16 off, labour exploitation, runners, cabbage, latest technologies including Kornit, Zund and Optitex, one-piece-flow, micro factory and much more.

Feedback from previous attendees on this seminar such as the staff from George at Asda has been excellent…

‘I have learnt a lot of very useful information including cost breakdowns, lean manufacturing, how any small mistake can have such a huge knock-on affect. Very clear and concise useful information. Thank-you very much.’ Jenna, Buying Advocate

‘I have learnt a lot! Really good to see a real factory and what goes on. Also, about costing and how the business is operated. Very good information given and in-depth detail which is the most interesting part e.g. the different business operations and fast production v’s the Fashion Studio.’ Tanesha. Merchandising Advocate

FC Designer Workspace Launch

Next week, Thursday 2nd September, we open the doors to our new affordable designer workspace in Islington where we will host a Community Launch event. Guests will include Cllr Asima Shaikh, MP Jeremy Corbyn and local sewing and community groups such as Jannaty Women’s Social Society, One True Voice and Holloway Neighbourhood Group.

The Community Launch will showcase the vision for the space with live sewing and pattern cutting demonstrations within the garment life cycle exhibition. Guests will learn about the various training and employment opportunities as they hear from key stakeholders and take a tour of the space.

Funded and supported by Islington Council, the Mayor of London and LEAP this is a UK first; a fashion circular economy combining affordable workspace with our FC Designer Collective retail shop on Fonthill Road.

As a predominantly female strong workforce equality has always been a core part of our company ethos whether it’s gender, age, nationality or religious beliefs, everybody is on a level playing field. And, as anyone that has a dog can testify, having a pet dog can do wonders for positive mental health!

Until next time, have a great week.
