Did you know since January 2023 we have had 1,625 individuals walk through our factory doors to learn all about ethical, made in the UK fashion production! The success of our onsite tours and seminars has been phenomenal and we are particularly proud to showcase fashion’s new way forward with our micro factory in Unit 4. Here we are able to demonstrate:

Would You Like to Learn Style3D?

Would you like to try your hand at using the very latest 3D technology for fashion? We are running a series of 3-day courses with small group tuition to demonstrate how efficient and affective this amazing software is with the added bonus of a free, 3-month trial licence.

On the course last week learner Angel said: “The learning objective was to complete an outfit and animate it on a catwalk, which was done successfully. It was really fun! It was an almost magical feeling when Harry showed me how to sew pieces together, suddenly everything I was looking at made sense and I was buzzing with ideas on what I wanted to make. I would be excited for another opportunity to learn again!”

Create South East is Inviting Applications to Join Cohort 3 

Create South East supports and champions businesses in the creative industries across Kent, Essex and Sussex. The programme aims to help creative businesses in developing their skills and knowledge to secure investment and work towards their company goals. Through both workshops and mentorships, the programme lays the foundations for companies to find pathways to securing future growth.

Create South East is part of the Create Growth programme delivered on behalf of DCMS.  Support is free to the companies selected to take part, and the programme runs for 9 months per cohort. The next cohort will kick off early 2024 so if you have a creative business that operates in Kent, Essex or Sussex, why not see if Create South East could help your business grow?

TikTok Fashion Competition

Looking to promote your fashion skills to a global audience? TikTok are currently running a fashion competition for fledgling fashion designers / upcyclers.

Prizes include: + Production of 5 x garments (including the design featured in your entry video) designed by you. + Showcase event in February 2024 in London celebrating your designs + $5k towards photography and videography of your collection for your portfolio (managed by TikTok) +1 x editorial feature on SheerLuxe website and 6-month talent management contract with Blush Talent Management, SheerLuxe’s brand new fashion talent agency.

The deadline for this competition is 30th November 2023. A panel of judges will review the entries and a winner will be announced in January 2024, with a public announcement the following month.

Today’s Free Zoom 1-hour Masterclass 

This morning FEL’s Director, Caroline Ash, presented a 1-hour Zoom masterclass on cost effective sampling and production for up and coming businesses. Attendees included FTA students, FC Designer Workspace residents and external businesses.

Our free 1-hour masterclasses are packed full of information and are delivered by speakers with decades of industry knowledge and expertise. The next session will take place on Thursday 14th December and the topic will be Profitable Pricing: Strategies for Accurate Costing and Pricing in the Fashion Industry Tap the link and add to basket to book your free place, a Zoom link will be emailed closer to the date.

Saturday Pattern Cutting Class

If you would like to learn the art of pattern cutting but have commitments throughout the week we currently offer a small group Saturday class. Running alongside our popular Saturday Stitching Club at the FC Designer Workspace, tutor Angel is on hand to support with pattern tuition. This session can be adapted to attendees requests and knowledge levels. 

Feedback from the first week included: 

“The tutor was amazing. Kind, patient and genuinely tried to make sure we left with as many skills as we could learn.”

“Angel was simply amazing, she is so patient and pays attention to detail when explaining. I learnt so much in today’s session and I can’t wait to come back.”
