The Start of the Show…Made in Wales – The Fashion Event

09-05-2022

Fashion-Enter Ltd Wales and students at NPTC Group of Colleges – Newtown College in Powys, Wales are gearing up for a fashion extravaganza this summer. Taking place on Friday 8th July the students are currently working on their designs and have just received their first fabric samples…hot off the Kornit Presto printer.

Last week, 5th May, Annabella, Senior Administrator at Fashion-Enter Wales, popped over to the College to deliver the fabrics designed by the students and sustainably printed on Fashion-Enter’s Kornit Digital Presto printer.

The students were delighted with the results saying how vibrant the colours look. While the students get on with transforming the fabric into wearable designs a second batch of abstract patterns is being prepared to make its fabric debut. The Kornit Presto offers eco-friendly digital print technology that eliminates inventory waste and the students are thrilled to have this cutting-edge facility within their design process.

Carys Jones. Art & Design Lecturer at Newtown College said: “It was so exciting to see our Art & Design student’s artwork being brought to life today as we saw them printed on to fabric for the first time. I can already picture their vibrant designs on the catwalk at the big night this summer. Roll on the 8th of July.”

The Fashion Event will celebrate both manufacturing and design to put Newtown and ‘Made in Wales’ firmly back on the fashion map. The day long event will be open to local schools, where there will be informal sessions on the garment making process, manufacturing, skills and careers in the fashion industry.

Two fashion shows will follow showcasing a diverse range of design talent, created in collaboration with the manufacturing team at Fashion-Enter Ltd and utilising the innovative Kornit Digital Presto printer. The day will culminate in a grand finale at 7pm with a party.

Made in Wales – The Fashion Event will take place Friday 8th July at Focus Enterprise Hub, 3rd Floor, Pryce Jones Building The Royal Welsh Warehouse, 17 Old Kerry Road, Newtown, Powys, Wales SY16 1BJ.
