Perfect Patterns Bursary Awardee Talks About the Course

24 may bursary

QHQ, the leading technical resource to the fashion industry awarded a £1,500 bursary to learner Natasha Osaro-Osaghae to enable her to progress onto the Level 2 Perfect Pattern Cutting Course at the Fashion Technology Academy. Having now completed the course here is her feedback on the experience:

“Having completed Levels 1 & 2 of the Perfect Patterns course at Fashion Enter, I have developed more confidence in my skills. Learning industry standards for garment construction has also translated into my pattern construction for my own leather handbags. The course gives you the tools required to create a wide variety of garments by simply carrying the basic pattern ideas over and getting creative with fashion design. The support from the team here was also exceptional and I am very grateful to have learnt from their years’ of expertise.”

Third CPPD Factory Uncovered for George at Asda Team

asda third cppd

The George at Asda cohort consisted of Designers, Assistant Buyers, Garment Technologists and Assistant Merchandisers, all eager to understand and see first-hand how a supplier operates. Having never stepped foot inside a factory before the four-hour workshop provided a unique insight into garment construction including how a garment is costed, lay plans, stitching techniques and exactly how does a factory operate from fabric delivery to final garment delivery.

I learnt a lot about costings and factories as I have never been allowed to visit one before. It was really great, I enjoyed the entire day and I learnt a lot – 100% recommended.’ Charlotte, Garment Technologist

The Clothes Show has been well-established as the place for new model faces to get scouted and now a part of a huge fashion & beauty festival it plans to do the very same in Liverpool this summer.

On one side we have the bargain hunter; 4 tops for £20, yes please, why pay more for one item when you can get four for the same price. On the other we have the conscious consumer; they buy less and pay more per item from brands they feel they can trust and give back. Which side are you on?

Boutique Piece of the Week

In light of all things British designed and made we checked out a favourite design from Oxana at Afina London and decided it was too stunning to ignore. The Kimberley bikini set exudes tropical decadence. Black velvet ribbons contour the body and the playful animal print adds colour and is accented with 24k Gold Plated details. This is sheer poolside glamour at its best. Available now from Afina London for £235
