Newsletter 30th November 2016

Dear all,

30 nov haringeyBeing part of the local Haringey community is at the core of our business here at FashionCapital and Fashion Enter. Being based here not only provides training and employment to residents in the area but also ripples out to other local businesses; from our factory neighbours in need of apprentices – to the local sandwich run guy. Last night our CEO Jenny Holloway attended the ‘Building a Stronger Haringey Together’ networking event. Over the last decade we have seen so much positive change in the borough and more is planned for the year ahead.

Jenny comments: “I am extremely proud to be part of Haringey’s regeneration! Providing opportunities is exactly what Fashion Enter is all about. Upskilling people to use industrial machines, cutting fabric, pressing…all the skills needed to either get a job immediately or start your own label.  There’s a whole world out there so make sure you grab it!”

This Week on FashionCapital.co.uk

30 nov depop dressesWe take a look at Open Britain and their campaign for Britain to be inclusive and open for business with Europe as well as the rest of the world.

While reports of Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales success keep pouring in others have taken an alternative stance by refusing to buy anything, Greenpeace explains.

According to a new report by Albion Ventures, one of the largest independent venture capital investors in the UK, the skills shortage tops the list of challenges business owners face today.

Need some ideas for what to wear to the work Christmas party? Then look here for our top 5, easy-to-wear yet affordable ‘Made in Britain’ dresses.

Boutique Pick of the Week

30 nov boutique pickWe are thinking party time here at FashionCapital (our staff party is this Friday!) and for those that want a hands-free dance experience the bumbag, or fanny pack – as they like to say over the pond, is the way to go! It’s fair to say bumbags have received a bad rap over the years, however, with the 90s firmly on the fashion radar they have seen a resurgence of late. This one not only says ‘party’ with all that sparkle but is made from eco / recycled leather (scraps of leather that were destined for landfill, they have been re-processed into a flat metre of fabric for re-sale and contains no PVC.) Fun and practicality with an eco-conscience – can’t get fairer than that.

Until next time, have a great week.
