Newsletter 22nd February 2017

22 feb fc on tvDear all,

Last week began with a glowing press feature courtesy of The Evening Standard and as the week progressed members of the Fashion Enter team could be seen talking about fashion production on Sky News and the Victoria Derbyshire show on the BBC. With London Fashion Week just underway the media were keen to discuss, not only design talent, but British manufacturing too, and we were only too happy to promote this growing sector.

Mouret Talks Production Family

factory general sewing smallHow refreshing was it to hear established designer Roland Mouret, celebrating his 20th anniversary with a show at LFW, talk about the importance of his British production team, so often this crucial area of the fashion industry is overshadowed by the design and media side.

The beauty of London fashion is its influence on production. One by one, we saved factories here. We produce so much in Britain now. I hope Theresa May will understand. We have to take care of the people that work for us. They are part of the family.”

Perfect Patterns Level 1 – New Intake

generic apprentice small 2Our current cohort of Perfect Pattern Level 1 learners completed their course on Monday and we are now looking for our next intake of students.  On their learning experience the students commented:

“I am much more confident in constructing and manipulating patterns. The teachers and staff have really helped me and each student understand how to make patterns from scratch despite everyone having different learning styles.” – CeeCee

“I do have a better understanding of what clothing will look like from 2D to fitting garments on the body and I’m able to measure people and create items more confidently. I’m able to work with clients and have an expanded knowledge of pattern cutting from my previous experience. I also am now aware of the Telestia tools which make for quicker drafting which is perfect for what I do.” – Natasha

“I am in the process of changing careers and this course has given me the skills to go off and start making patterns and designs of my own.” – Sharon

The next uptake for our popular 10-week (four half days a week) Perfect Patterns course has been set for March. To find out more and express an interest please contact: education@fashion-enter.com or telephone 0208 809 3311.

Rebekah comments: It’s always hard to pin point a LFW favourite because each designer offers something unique that catches your eye, but for AW17 Malan Breton was definitely at the top of my list, presenting a sleek, sophisticated and suave collection that I only wish I could pull off myself! As always Rocky Star and Ashley Isham were also up there in my top three as they presented a truly glamorous affair that takes you to a place far away, telling a story of ambition.”

Rebekah Returns to Uni

22 feb rebekah tubeOur marketing and social media queen – Rebekah Litherland is returning to University to complete her degree as of tomorrow and while we will all miss her energy and input she will continue to work with us remotely.

(Rebekah right with Sophie Lau travelling between shows.)

Rebekah comments:  “As my placement with FashionCapital comes to an end I cannot thank Jenny, Jenni and JoJo for the continuous support they have all offered me over the last nine-months and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities I have been presented with. Working within marketing is something I enjoy and knowing that together as a team we have seen such a growth over the last nine months especially on the social media pages and fabric studio is so rewarding for the whole company.

“My time here has given me a whole different insight into the fashion industry and I’ve had the chance to gain knowledge in areas that I never thought I would, for example: fabrics, textiles and manufacturing.  Everything that happens here just shows what people like Jenny and Jenni are trying to do to give others the chance to learn new skills and put their skills into use.  Being part of such a hardworking and dynamic team here is something I’ll always carry with me in the future and I’ll never forget presenting to Jenny with no voice as part of a University project, which actually led to me being offered the placement in the first place!

“Everyone here has helped me along the way and treated me as part of the FashionCapital family and I cannot thank them enough. Whilst I am sad to be leaving the office this week I will be continuing to work with FashionCapital remotely whilst completing my university studies so this is not the end! A huge thank you to Jenny for truly believing in me.”

Jenny adds:

“Rebekah has become such a valuable member of the team over the last 9 months…we have all had great fun creating new and exciting campaigns.  Rebekah has been offered a job and we just want her back as soon as possible!  Thanks for absolutely everything. X”
