We are incredibly fortunate to offer a unique learning environment here at the Fashion Technology Academy. Not only do we have a fabulous education team but we are based alongside a fully operational factory and you can’t get more hands-on than that.
“As Senior Lecturer on the apprenticeship programme we can see first hand the absolute importance of work related skills. We work with a very large cross section of employers from M&S to Mosley Road. Employers today want professionally trained staff that have the skills to make business happen. Textiles Skills Academy Teachers Day at Fashion Enter
Last week textile technology teachers joined Textile Skills Academy and FashionCapital for a pattern making workshop.
The Textile Skills Academy (TSA) provides support to secondary school textiles teachers in the UK through the use of industry experts and education presenters. Founded in January 2015 by Dawn Foxall, the academy delivers relevant practical workshops for Art, Textiles and Design & Technology teachers to support and aid their own delivery of the curriculum.
Mel Nicholas, Textiles Technician said: “Today I’ve learnt all aspects of pattern cutting and I feel more confident with helping my students. It was also great to be able to see the workshops and factory… Dawn and Alice are so knowledgeable and experienced and I have learnt so much from them! The course has been very valuable.”

Fashion Retail Academy Students Visit & Learn
Today we have a group of students from the Fashion Retail Academy learning the in’s and out’s of fashion manufacturing. Here’s what a couple of them had to say:
“I have learnt a huge amount of information about the future of British manufacturing and retail.”
“I have learnt how much time and effort actually goes into a garment – the little details that make a big difference.”
Look, Listen and Learn
We have been uploading some informative ‘how to’ videos on our YouTube channel, this weeks’ tutorial is double hemming and is due to go live on Friday. There is a sneak peek on the FCFabricStudio Facebook page click here to view.
