Newsletter 24th June 2015 – Flares Make a Fashion Comeback

As the men’s shows head over to Milan take note of the latest reoccurring trend for SS16 – flares! From wide-leg pleated cuts hip to ankle to bellbottom shapes designers are putting skinny styles to bed come next summer. Other trends spied on the Italian catwalks: gender-bending feminine styling, silk separates and unseasonally dark colour palettes.

 

 

Bespoke Prom Dress Service Now Available

A new service has started at our in-house Fashion Studio. Each year the Fashion Studio has increasing demand for bespoke Prom Dresses.  One such client has been Morgana Austin who has her prom tomorrow night. Morgana has designed this ‘slinky’ maxi with a deep plunge back and we thought she looked stunning as you can see below. Back by popular demand FashionCapital will return to the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace from 7th – 11th October with an interactive installation showcasing the complete garment life cycle. The team will be able to take visitors on an informative journey that reveals each stage of garment production from initial idea right through to the delivery of finished designs. 

For those interested in pursuing a career in fashion, FashionCapital will also host talks and demonstrations on its level 1 Stitching Academy, levels 2, 3 and 4 Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeship programmes and recently launched qualifications at the Fashion Technology Academy.

Taking place this November, London’s biggest jobs and careers event, Skills London 2015 will offer students an opportunity to meet a vast range of prestigious employers, top universities and colleges, award-winning training providers and expert advisers offering career guidance and life coaching.

Focusing on interactive and individual advice, young people are encouraged to visit and develop relationships with recruiters and admissions teams. This personal touch helps open doors to new roles and routes. Skills London 2015 also features live jobs and vacancies giving a chance for visitors to start their career journeys.

Open on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November, organised groups of students visit from colleges and schools on Friday and individuals and families are encouraged to visit on Saturday.
