Newsletter 19th October 2016

Dear all,

fashion svp nov 16Fashion SVP organiser IDEX has teamed up with Fashion Enter and the Ethical Fashion Forum to present an innovative new feature ‘Fashion Made Better’ at the next Fashion SVP show. Please join us at Olympia London on the 15th & 16th November 2016, to view our garment life cycle demonstrations and to hear up to the minute advice on best practice in ethical and sustainable fashion sourcing.

Jenny Holloway, CEO of Fashion Enter, said, “Credit to Fashion SVP for taking yet another innovative approach to sourcing.  We shall be setting up a live stand where we can showcase the highly skilled talents of our machinists and host interactive workshops where you can ask those burning questions regarding what exactly is quality of make and ethical production. With the advent of Article 50 being triggered in March 2017 every brand should now be forging closer links with UK manufacturers now; for quality fast track and transparent production the only way forward is Made in the UK.”

Want To Know What a Stitching Course Can Do for You?

On the FashionCapital Facebook page we feature a video of one of our learners with Jenny Holloway, she comments: “Completing Level 1 and 2 at the Stitching Academy has been the best part of my life… I’ve always had designs in my head and now I can actually make them.”

Jenny comments: “This is why I love my job! We are welcoming Ryan back today as a designer with his own collection!  Ryan successfully completed his Level 1 and 2 Stitching course and he can now make his own garments to sell on line – he has already had 9 major sales! Seeing him present his collection during London Fashion Week at the Green Rooms just gives us all the biggest buzz. This is what education is all about. I know I keep harping on about real skills but if you want your business to really succeed in fashion you need to know how garments are made and made beautifully. Ryan we are all so proud of you. Well done!”

Boutique Piece of the Week

Combining two of the season’s key trends: bold checks and capes; this cropped version will do very nicely. Featuring ¾ length sleeves, waist-tie and double-breasted horn button fastenings – this piece is perfect for those subtly chilly days. And that’s not all – created by ethical brand Komodo this cape is made from brushed pure wool & recycled polyester mix in overseas factories that have fair conditions and pay at their core.
