NEWSLETTER 28th May 2014
Dear all,

Exciting times here at FashionCapital HQ, today we are holding a press day at the Factory to announce our collaboration with the leading fashion sizing and fit expert, Alvanon.

Alvanon has committed over £50,000 worth of world-class technical fit forms to the Fashion Enter Factory, Stitching and Technical academies.

Janice Wang, CEO, Alvanon (pictured right) commented:

“Fashion Enter is playing a leadership role in the re-skilling of the UK’s fashion manufacturing sector and its achievements have already been outstanding. Its Stitching Academy is training up to 20 new students every six weeks and giving them a level 1 national qualification in ‘stitching skills’, which can lead into a full apprenticeship programme in fashion and textiles. It is now working on a new fashion technical qualification that will attract even more young people to the industry. Fashion Enter is restoring ‘the lost art of the technical’ and this will have a major impact on the UK’s ability to re-build its garment manufacturing sector. As Alvanon’s CEO I am 100 per cent behind Jenny’s production and training ambitions and am delighted we have been able to assist.”

Jenny Holloway CEO of Fashion Enter added:

We are striving to achieve the highest possible production and training standards. Alvanon’s donation will enable our sewing professionals and apprentices to size and fit garments accurately and consistently across the production process. I cannot overstate how important it is to produce clothes that satisfy the sizing and fit requirements of our customers – it means they get clothes that fit more of their customers better, this leads to greater customer loyalty, increased demand and translates into repeat business for us. We are indebted to Alvanon for its support.”

Press coverage from this to follow.

Staff Day Out!

Come sunshine or rain – last weekend the Fashion Enter and FashionCapital team hit the seaside! To celebrate the long bank holiday weekend, the team took a trip to Southend, indulging in some classic seaside favourites; ice cream, theme park rides and fish & chips on the beach. Even the unpredictable weather didn’t stop the staff from enjoying themselves.

Check out some snaps from the day below!

Florentia Clothing Village Job Fair

Last Friday (23rd May) Fashion Enter held a job fair in Florentia Clothing Village, based just round the corner from The Factory. An informal event, ex-Stitching Academy Learners and local residents were invited to attend and meet with over 30 employers with the opportunity to find a job based within the clothing village.

The roles on offer were mainly design and production based, within the CMT units. The event had a great turn out, with a number of new faces among the familiar faces from The Stitching Academy.

The roles on offer were ideal for those that have been on the course, specializing in sewing, industrial machines and operations, the Level 1 qualification gained from The Stitching Academy was perfect in showcasing to the employers looking to take on an apprentice or employee.

And great news! 2 of the Stitching Academy learners that attended on the day were offered jobs, right at the fair! As well as a number of others offered interviews and work trials within the Florentia Clothing Village workspaces.

Alexandra Mac, who started the Stitching Academy only 2 weeks ago, was offered at role at Rosie Fashions Ltd. 20 year old Alex, who had no previous experience in fashion was delighted at the role she had been offered. “Through Fashion Enter’s connections and jobs fair I’ve been offered a job at Rosie’s Fashion, I’m so excited to start!”
