Newsletter 12th March 2014
Dear All,
Over the last two months our company has received a boost in press attention, thanks to the Made in Britain campaign, our Apprenticeship programme, the Stitching Academy and our recent participation in the ASBCI Conference focusing on British manufacturing. Drapers Record has regularly featured us in its trade publication and at the end of last week Jenny Holloway along with other ASBCI speakers gained more copy with this article by Jane Simms. At the Factory this Week…
Congratulations to Wang (pictured right), Production Machinist, for becoming a Grandmother and a glamorous one at that! Her daughter recently gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Farewell Yuliana
Last Friday we said a big thank you and even bigger goodbye to Yuliana Dobreva our head of patterns. Joining Fashion Enter in 2010, facing the challenge of moving to the UK and having to learn English, Yuliana soon adapted and was a great addition to The Fashion Studio Team.
“I want to say thank you to Jenny Holloway for the opportunity she has given me, to come to England and start work for Fashion Enter with zero English, and to everyone in the company for supporting me.”

We want to wish Yuliana the best for the future, and will of course, keep in touch!

Highgate Wood School Visit
On March 7th FashionCapital visited Highgate Wood School in North London to give students across year’s 9, 10 and 12 a real insight into the fashion industry and how to embark on one of its many career options.
The day commenced with Director Jenny Holloway explaining who we are and all the different areas we operate in from sampling and production to mentoring designers to the fashion and textiles apprenticeship programme.

Discussing the apprenticeship programme gave students an opportunity to learn about alternative options to university for when they leave school. Knowing there is an option to not only start working straight away but also train for a qualification and get paid for it was a real eye opener and certainly something many of the young learners will now be considering.

Youth Fashion Wandsworth Countdown
Have you been following the Youth Fashion Wandsworth competition?
The competition, brainchild of the Mayor of Wandsworth, Angela Graham is aimed at 15-19 year olds, designed to bring out the most in creative young people and help them to kick-start their design and fashion careers.
After a tough 4 months, from narrowing down the hundreds of applications to one-on-one interviews, the applicants were put through their paces in a series of master classes, all under the observing eye of Fashion Enter and industry judges, the final designs are finally becoming a reality.
Going on to develop their skills further learning about the design lifecycle and the processes of sketch to final design, the applicants have had the opportunity to further their skills and knowledge in numerous textile, design and mood board master classes. The final 5 candidates were selected by Wandsworth Mayor Angela Graham and a panel of industry judges.

The winning designers visited the Fashion Enter Factory on Saturday 8th January 2014 to take part in a pattern cutting master class and to begin making their designs come to life. Combining the creativity of the design process with the practical application of pattern cutting and production along with the craftsmanship needed to get the design right provided an extremely insightful master class for the final 5.
The young designers are now working to a tight deadline of April 15th, to assist in making sure their designs are ready in time for a launch at the Pump House Gallery in Wandsworth, where the 5 architecturally inspired different dresses will be displayed alongside professional designers work.
