“Since starting my business www.fashioncapital.co.uk has been working with me from day one. They understand and know my product inside out and are a great support for myself and my brand – which for me as a designer is so important especially with the type of garments I create. I love working with them and hope our relationship will continue.” Rebecca Torres – Designer

The Big Fashion Conversation
Our industry event ‘The Big Fashion Conversation’ with Wandsworth Council aims to raise the profile of careers and training in the fashion sector.
We have had a fantastic response from industry wanting to take part and are pleased to confirm that Sof Sofocleous. Head of Quality at New Look will be attending the event, Sof comments:
“Today I am the Head of Quality at New Look with a large team. However I started my career working in factories learning from the bottom up. In my view this is the only real way how to learn about all the factors of a garment.
New Look were the first to introduce Level 4 apprenticeships into buying and merchandising and we have had excellent results on the Level 3 with Fashion Enter.
Education today needs to be vocational and real and this is why New Look is totally supporting the Big Fashion Conversation with Wandsworth. It’s a great concept for schools of today.”
The Big Fashion Conversation is a collaborative event with Wandsworth Council and Fashion Enter and is targeted at 14-24 year olds interested in careers and training in the fashion industry.
If you are a Wandsworth based school/college/organisation and would like to take part in this event or require further information, please contact jenni@fashion-enter.com

This video really shows the abilities you need to be an excellent buyer – I am sure you will agree that Gabrielle is outstanding in the video. This video is just part of a complete series of the ‘Garment Life Cycle’ videos that have been produced over the last six months thanks to funding from Teach Too. The videos will be uploaded on to the new www.fashioncapital.co.uk site as we approach the opening of the Fashion Technology Academy – a UK first for garment courses from real industry backgrounds.
Our grateful thanks to Gabi for being so professional – as always!

Introducing Kibby Kays
Kibby Kays creator Grace has been sewing and creating garments her entire life, she learnt from her mother from the age of five but having no formal training decided to take the next step with her passion and make her dream a reality! Having established her dancewear company Kibby Kays last year Grace has already created bold, fierce carnival wear. Her direction is figure hugging body suits, bright leggings and colourful dancewear.
Grace is now a learner on the Level 1 Stitching Academy so she can hone in on her skills and develop her technical ability when creating garments for her new label – Kibby Kays.
