Topshop unique buy nowDear all,

Let the shows commence! Yes, it’s that time of year again when the industry turns to the four fashion capitals of the world to take in the latest creative directions from the designer sector. First up, New York, and with many designers shaking up the tradition fashion calendar it will be interesting to see how this fast-turnaround model will pan out.

First Time CPPD With Arcadia

Back at FC HQ our sister company, Fashion Enter, is about to welcome a cohort of Admin Buying Assistants and Assistant Buyers from Arcadia group. The CPPD workshop held at the Factory next Wednesday will provide an exclusive insight into how a factory operates so the group can understand the business from a supplier’s perspective.

The last CPPD workshop took place with M&S, Shreya, BAA commented: “I have learnt a lot of tricks to look out for when working with a factory, how garments are costed, issues a factory may have with their retail customer and have visually seen who does what.”

We look forward to welcoming Arcadia next week. If you would like to read more about our CPPD workshops click here.

Fashion Enter Apprentice Razina Talks About Her Experience

“So far this has been a great learning experience, as I feel more responsible, because there is now nobody as experienced as Dymphna (currently on maternity leave) to watch over us or correct us if we make a mistake when doing these things. This means that it is important for me to be very focused in what I am doing and not rush any of my tasks in the pattern room, as a small mistake could be very costly. Alongside this, it is also now my responsibility to train the pattern cutters in digitising, which has been quite successful so far. I now feel a bit more confident in my ability to digitise and check patterns, and I hope I am able to improve my skills in patterns over the next year.”

FC Fabric Studio Swatch of the Week

As we’ve seen for several seasons bright pops of colour are no longer restricted to the confines of spring/summer. In fact an injection of a bold shade is often a great way to liven up the neutral tones often used in autumn collections. We love this teal textured crepe, which includes a touch of elastane to provide some give.

Available now on the FCFabricStudio website.
