24 year olds!
Are you a 16-24 year old looking for work in the fashion industry? You could secure the start of your career in less than a week by applying to work with Little Hands Design via the first fashion and textiles apprenticeship program on offer in London today! Please find more information below about the company you could be working for and the qualification you can gain at the end of an 18 month contract to start your future in fashion.
Little Hands Design is a company that works with children aged up to 17 years old teaching them how to make their own clothes and accessories and is based in between Belsize Park and Swiss Cottage tube stations.
To become an apprentice you must meet teh following criteria:
- Aged 16-24 years old
- Have a minimum of 5 A-C GCSE grades
- Not have a level 4 qualification or higher
To work with Little Hands Design you will need to be willing to work with children and pass on your knowledge to those younger than you. You therefore must have a friendly disposition yet be able to give instructions and assist the learning of others. As the courses provided by Little Hands Design are practical, you must have knowledge of how to use sewing machines and of hand stitching as these skills will be taught in the courses offered. Because of this you must therefore have a passion for making clothes, not only for the designing element. You must also have the knowledge of how to make basic samples and how to give instructions both verbally and written. It will be expected that you are absolutely punctual and reliable. Please expect to have a CRB check carried out on you as you will be working with children, thus if you have a criminal record, this may cause problems to the employment. You must be an organised, enthusiastic individual with an evident passion for garment construction and working with children.
Little Hands Design is seeking to employ an apprentice from the beginning of September whilst is looking to work with potential candidates for 3 weeks prior to the employment start date to ensure both parties are happy working together and can develop a sustainable working relationship for the 18 month duration of the apprenticeship program. You will be working with Little Hands Design 4 days each week including Saturdays during school term-times and will attend Fashion Enter’s Workshop or Factory one day a week and will be registered as a student with the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London. Upon completion of the 18 month contract you will have a Level 3 Diploma in Fashion & Textiles (Apparel Pathway).
As an apprentice, the minimum amount that is required to be paid by the employer is £100 per week as stipulated by government.
