01-05-2014
To help with the students current course and studies, 15 students were invited by Fashion Enter to review The Factory and get an upclose and personal insight to a live factory and production Made in Britain. This was a number of the students first time in a British factory aimed to educate them as to where garments really come from. To help in understanding each process, Jenny Holloway gave an introduction to The Garment LifeCycle followed by a guided tour, introducing the students and their tutors to the staff of Fashion Enter who explained their role and process within the garment lifecycle, while the students observed and took notes.
Rochelle Melbourne and Sophie Glover speaking to the students and tutors
Students were then introduced to Sophie Glover of ASOS who spoke about The Importance of Garment Technology, her journey into her job role at ASOS and why garment technology was the area of fashion she wanted to pursue. The students were “thrilled” to hear that they would be meeting Sophie and had the opportunity to ask her questionings, saying they felt “inspired” after meeting and hearing Sophie.
Upcoming designer and client of Fashion Enter, Rochelle Melbourne of Forever Divine also spoke to the students, on owning her own label, being a designer and the importance of manufacturing within the UK. As a client of Fashion Enter, Rochelle is aware of The Factory, how the company works and the importance of keeping manufacturing closer to home.
