An Evening with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

15-07-2013

Parting a set of curtains, rails of clothes, vintage and new, were exposed. The pieces were all being sold to aid breast cancer research, with the aim to eradicate breast cancer altogether. Founded in 1994 by Ralph Lauren, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, has raised over £12.5 million, and is currently in its 17th year running.

Deanne Oliver-Evans (AKA DJ Blonde Ambition), who has been a FTBC ambassador for two years, invited Bohemian Rose, Alter Ego, Spangled and White Pepper among other brands to showcase and sell their pieces in an effort to raise money for a disease that effects over 50,000 women a year, Oliver-Evans said, “As a young woman with an inspiring mum, wonderful sister and an abundance of gorgeous girlfriends, I was shocked to learn that over 50,000 women a year are hearing the devastating news that they have the disease.”

Items were also generously donated for the cause, where guests could enter a raffle to win prizes such as Mulberry bags and Benefit make-up, with the centrepiece being a custom designed Velvet Johnstone dress, featuring a print replication of cancer cells as they are seen under a microscope.

Guests sipped cocktails from Grey Goose, admired flowers from Kitten&Co and munched popcorn from Propercorn, eventually concluding the evening with raising over £3,500, and certainly taking a step closer to a solution for this terrible disease.
