Graduate Fashion Week 2017: The Awards Gala

Each award is independently judged by a panel of industry experts. Reading like a fashion’s ‘who’s who’ the likes of Angela Missoni, John Rocha, Iain R. Webb, Henry Holland, Tamsin Lejeune and many others judged the 26 categories throughout the event.

Various category winners have been announced daily over the course of GFW while the Gala provided a glittering showcase for those top design awards. In attendance celebrities included Alesha Dixon, Myleene Klass, Henry Holland, Daniel Lismore, Paul Sculfur, Oliver Spencer and Olivia Cox.

The 2017 Graduate Fashion Week Award Winners are:

2017 award halinaCHRISTOPHER BAILEY GOLD AWARD

The winner of the renowned Christopher Bailey Gold Award is Halina North (right), from Edinburgh College of Art. She has won £10,000 and Edinburgh College of Art win £2000. The runner up was Abigail Coop from Nottingham Trent University. 

DEBENHAMS MENSWEAR AWARD

Daniel Rynne (below) from Arts University Bournemouth is the winner of the Debenhams Menswear Award.

Irene D’Antonio (right) from Edinburgh College of Art has won the M&S Womenswear award! The runner up Claire Tagg from UCA Rochester

VISIONARY KNITWEAR AWARD

Ruth Williams from Edinburgh College of Art has won the Visionary Knitwear award. Abigail Coop from Nottingham Trent University, is the runner up.

CATWALK TEXTILES AWARD

Maddie Williams from Edinburgh College of Art has won the Catwalk Textiles Award! The runner up, Frankie Dean also from Edinburgh College of Art. 

SWAROVSKI HILARY ALEXANDER TRAILBLAZER AWARD

Halina North from Edinburgh College of Art has also won the Swarovski Hilary Alexander Trailblazer Award.

2017 gala kidsGEORGE CATWALK TO STORE

The winner is Laura Capello from Bath Spa University. The first runner up is Daniel Rynne from Arts University Bournemouth and the second runner up is Zsofia Juhasz from Manchester School of Art.

BONMARCHÉ FASHION FOR ALL AWARD

The winner is Caroline Bowden from University of Central Lancashire. The runner up Sian McGinnes Birmingham City University.

MOTHERCARE CHILDRENSWEAR AWARD  

The winner of the Mothercare Award was won by Catherine Watts (right) University of SalfordThe runner up is Alexandra Ward from Northumbria University. The next runner up is Alisha Dhokia from the University of Northampton. 

CLARKS FOOTWEAR AWARD

Megan Davies from the University of South Wales, has won the Clarks Footwear Award. Runner up is Georgia Battell De Montfort University and the second runner up is Kirsty Morris from UCA Epsom.

TU AT SAINSBURY’S WOMENSWEAR SCHOLARSHIP

The winner of a year’s scholarship is Laura Gillings from Bath Spa University.

The winner Amy Venderwel, from Nottingham Trent University, has won a year’s scholarship at Tu by Sainsbury’s under the mentorship of Oliver Spencer. 

BOOHOO SOCIAL MEDIA AWARD

The winner of the Boohoo Social Media Award is Natalie Clarkson from Ravensbourne.

ASOS FUTURE TALENT AWARD – COMMUNICATION

The winner of the ASOS Future Talent Award, Communications, is Charnice Blaize, from Birmingham City School of Fashion and Textiles. Charnice has won £3000 and her university has won £1000.

ASOS FUTURE TALENT AWARD – DESIGN

The winner of £3000 and the ASOS Future Talent Award – Design, is Hattie Crowther (right). A graduate of Sheffield Hallam University,  £1000 will go to the university.
