Call For Midlands Based Fashion Talent – Final Week!

Launched by Jenny Eason a decade ago in Birmingham the awards provide a much-needed platform for the diverse and exciting Midlands fashion scene to present creative ideas and get noticed. This year’s awards is scheduled to take place at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, CBSO Centre in Birmingham on Friday the 20th October 2017 is open to up and coming and established fashion and accessory designers, stylists, make-up artists, photographers and models.

Jenny Eason comments:“It’s hard to believe that we are now in our 10th edition of the Midlands Fashion Awards it certainly doesn’t feel like it! We are proud to have come this far and to be able to offer emerging fashion designers and creative talents the opportunity to present their collections at the MFA fashion show and awards.

“We look forward to another exceptional year of emerging fashion and creativity and to see this year’s finalists showcasing their work on a professional level. With 11 categories this year our aim is to encourage and promote fashion and creative individuals; to support excellence and champion fashion and creative talents from across Birmingham and the Midlands region.”

This Year’s Categories are:

Independent Fashion Designer of the Year

Emerging Designer of the Year

Accessory Designer of the Year

Young Fashion Designer of the Year (Graduates)

Professional Hair Stylist of the Year

Rising Star Award (Hairstylists)

Professional Make-up Artist of the Year

Rising Star Award (Make-up Artist)

Professional/ Non-professional Fashion Stylist of the Year

Fashion Photographer of the Year

Model of the Year

MFA PromoShoot pr long lowEach category will be judged by a panel of industry experts from leading fashion organisations, hair and make-up experts, fashion stylists, emerging photographers, model agencies and retailers. Judges will assess all entries based on submitted images and completed entry forms using a points system to score and select the finalists to go forward to the awards show in October 2017.

Category winners will gain a Midlands Fashion Award Trophy of Excellence, catwalk exposure, mentoring opportunities from industry professionals, promotion and exposure in the press and social media alongside the opportunity to network and collaborate. Previous MFA winners and participants have gone on to showcase at Fashion Week’s around the globe as well as gain prestigious press coverage and stockists.

As it’s the 10th anniversary the 2017 event is shaping up to be very special indeed and will include live entertainment alongside the catwalk show and exhibition.The Midlands Fashion Awards 2017 will be held at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, CBSO Centre, Birmingham, on Friday the 20th October 2017, the deadline for entrants is 18th June 2017.
