Minnie Mouse at London Fashion Week
The British Fashion Council have announced a photographic exhibition celebrating all things Minnie Mouse. Minnie’s iconic look; consisting of a bold red and white polka dot mini-dress, large matching hair bow and yellow pumps which has evolved over the years, will be the focal point of the pop-up display, featuring editorial photoshoots and artwork dedicated to the cartoon character over the years.
The retrospective curated by Georgia May Jagger will include a personal touch added from the models very own wardrobe and musings. “I’ve always been obsessed with everything Disney,” teaming up with friend and British designer Ashley Williams, the pair have created a one-off collection inspired by the cartoon mouse. Pieces include a mouse-ears hat, Minnie Mouse emblazoned clutch bags and polka-dot t-shirts.
The pieces will make their debut in the May issue of Dazed Magazine, captured by photographer Sharif Hamza, Georgia modelled the Minnie-memorabilia for a series of images in the latest issue.
“From that famous Herb Ritts shot of Madonna to the Minnie LOVE Magazine cover or Victoria Beckham at Vogue Festival, Minnie has some serious fashion credentials,” Justine Finch, director of franchise at Walt Disney commented. “The exhibition will bring all of this together in an innovative and fun way, showing how Minnie has been a global fashion influence across the decades.”
The Minnie Mouse exhibition will run from Septemeber 18th – 22nd 2015 as part of London Fashion Week.
