The Sponsors – September 2007

London Fashion Week (LFW) this season will further re-affirm the City’s place as the most creative, exciting and energetic of the fashion capitals – a true reflection of the city itself.  There are 53 catwalk shows, 250 designers within the exhibition and numerous other designers participating in off-schedule events and within showrooms around London.  LFW provides these designers with a strong platform to develop and promote their businesses to a global audience, however, LFW could not take place without the support and partnership of official sponsors, many of whom provide not only financial support but also invaluable services to LFW’s designers and visitors during the week.

CANON is principal sponsor of London Fashion Week.

Canon will be providing on-site support to accredited photographers at the Photography Centre in the British Fashion Council tent which will include minor repairs, sensor cleaning and general maintenance for Canon SLR cameras, and in addition there will also be a back up loan facility for photo journalists to utilise. There will also be exclusive Canon buses which will be shuttling photographers between shows to help ensure they don’t miss a moment of the capital’s catwalks. All visitors to the event are invited to Canon’s exhibition space, where an award-winning portfolio of stylish Canon consumer imaging products will be available to try.

Concepts such as image, design and innovation, which are fundamental to the fashion world, also lie at the heart of Canon’s business, and Canon’s leading imaging technology is used to deliver outstanding results throughout the industry.

LONDON DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

The London Development Agency (LDA) is the Mayor’s agency for London‘s sustainable economic growth. The LDA job is to ensure that London remains a global success story. The LDA is delighted to support London Fashion Week as it has done in previous years.  The LDA supports LFW to promote and enhance London’s reputation as a leading fashion city, where the fashion industry makes a valuable contribution to London‘s economy.

The LDA’s funding creates a platform for new and emerging designers to showcase their work to an international audience. Many young designers leave London because they struggle to get business support and finance. They also often have difficulty accessing affordable studios and the means to successfully market their designs.  The LDA aims to promote London as a centre for emerging designer talent (supported by our world renowned fashion educational institutes) and to ultimately create and retain sustainable fashion businesses in London.
