Matthew Williamson

22-02-2010

Asymmetric cuts, cap sleeves and the same tulip skirt, tight waist silhouette  that we have loved so much!

Emphasis is still definitely on power shoulders and feminine waists.  There’s beautiful draping and tailoring through out with asymmetric ruffle details to the chest and skirt.

The colour scheme  was based around blues and greys, with a few definite office friendly pieces.

One of the pieces that stood out for me was a gorgeous grey coat with fur trimmed shoulders and arms and a cascading grey collar.

Within the grey and blue palette there was a random neon pink coat thrown into the mix, a nice surprise for our tired eyes.

A very trend ready piece was a paneled, body con dress with short sleeves and lace inserts with gorgeous swirling piping detail. Another body con favourite was a sparkling mini dress with long sleeves and padded shoulders. The grey and black dress was sequined in a beautiful fur like pattern.

Williamson threw in a few fur trims that are bound to spark off a few animal cruelty debates whether they were real or not. In the press room and around the venue there are many fur coats, trims and accessories to be seen and its an obvious re-emerging trend so we shall see how this develops…

This collection was stunning, chic and mature – no wild ridiculous elements but this was not needed to make this a brilliant show.
