Falguini and Shane Peacock
23-02-2010
The Falguini and Shane Peacock show was as much as about honouring fashion, as it was about showcasing their next collection. Paying tribute to the late Alexander McQueen and Michael Jackson, the 80’s themed show kicked off with some dazzling and busy numbers.
Already impressed with their artistic invitation, the presentation of the collection was a sea of vivid designs and quirky embroidery with delicate and sparkly jewelled broaches to emphasise their eccentric image. Most definitely embracing the big shoulders trend – an epitome of the 80’s decade itself – the orange and black dresses were unforgettable and magical.
Almost as if they had taken inspiration from the infamous 80’s Rubik cube, the blocked colour items were inventive, confident and keeping to their trademark of outstanding fabrics and rich textures. The models sashayed down the catwalk to Billie Jean, giving us a nostalgic feeling of the 80’s disco and its entire fascinating memorabilia.
As the saying goes ‘the ’80s were fabulous. The ’90s sucked, and the ’70s were just a sad, sad time … Go 1980s!’ With big shoulders, leg warmers, big hair and bright coloured tights all in the must have wardrobe, we couldn’t agree more!
