LFW day one – Fyodor Golan
14-09-2012
The silhouette of the garment followed this year peplum trend at the waist; however it was refreshed by the peplum section getting longer at the back, flattering the figure and also having numerous peplums on one garment, not only at the waist but at the knees and bottoms of the dresses. The dresses were a combination of royal blue and white which made each colour stand out, sections of the first few dressed looked as though they had been made from crochet with gave the garment texture.
As more dresses came out they began to get a little more structured, perhaps in correlation to the headpieces the models wore, made from plastics and were harsh and sharp, one In particular resembled an extended tennis visor.
There is as much design on the back of the dresses from this collection as there is on the front, they all have interesting fastenings and the backs are cut out, strapped, sheer and low. The blue and white of the first few garments gradually eased itself into a blue, white and black small detailed repeat patterned print and embroidery and embellishment was also brought into the collection, on a pair of blue cigarette pants, beads and jewels were sewn in a section at the front of each leg with added glamour to a simple pair of trousers. Other pieces reminded me of mosaics, small pieces of mirrors were placed on the garments all together, and sleeves were made up of hundreds of small square shell like pieces, a lot of detail that was very effective up close.
Other colours entered the collection including bright pinks, orange prints and yellows. The collection had a variation of garments, fun party dresses to evening gowns and from floating kaftan dresses to sharp tailored trousers and silky shirts.
