Awards & a Website for Croydon’s Up & Coming Talent
21-03-2007
The winning designs were created by students at Croydon College under the Getting It Right First Time initiative headed by Jenny Holloway. After a fantastic response to the unique designs at the Fashion-Enter boutique Phil Innocent took note and put in an order. The winning designs can now be viewed and purchased online at www.straw-berry.co.uk
Over 100 People attended the party sponsored by Design Business at The Croydon Hilton Hotel. Guests started to arrive at 5pm and were greeted by guest speaker Wendy Buckley from the London Innovation Centre, Chris Fogg director of Kingston Innovation Centre and Gayle Atkins, course leader at Croydon College. Jenny Holloway, director of Fashion-Enter and FashionCapital also spoke and was talking from the heart when she said she was genuinely impressed by the students. There was also a special appearance from Mike Simmonds from Business and Enterprise and Government office of London.
Jenny commented: “Can I just personally say a big thank you to everyone who has supported Fashion-Enter over the last year. A “special” thanks to Angelina and Lisa for awarding the Fashion Cluster Project to Fashion-Enter; this has progressed very well and was live within one month (end February). Also to David Parham at Centrale’s Management Team for their continuing support of Fashion Enter Ltd. Justine Wright and Chris Lee of Equals too.
However, the stars of the show were of course the designers themselves. Champagne, Amethyst and PreY2K took to the stage and the limelight to talk about the experience as a whole and what this wonderful opportunity meant to them.
During the course of the evening we even had the pleasure of talking with Phil Innocent all the way from Manchester via a live link up. Very Eurovision Song Contest, without the politics and cheesy tunes!
Fashion-Enter was delighted to be working with the students at Croydon College, this is only the start of something wonderful; discussions are already on the way to take the collections to international markets in Paris and Chicago. Watch this space!
