Enter Barking – a runway success!

10-09-2007

With dignitaries including Margaret Hodge MP, the local Mayor Fred Barns, a host of funders including John Middleton from the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, supporters including, Judy Chapman, Jo Sinclair, Derek Levy, Becky Smith and Nigel Rust plus three TV crews and three papers the day was heralded as an excellent launch to the boutique.

Divinity Models provided an excellent job sourcing some outstanding models and were also on the hunt for local modelling talent in the borough. A new initiative is being devised with Divinity Models to find the ‘Face of Barking’ details to follow shortly on this.

Margaret Hodge MP was an absolute delight and spent time talking to designers, models, and the staff of Fashion Enter; Jenny Holloway commented:

“It was a genuine pleasure to meet MP Margaret Hodge who is the Minister for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and she had an excellent overview of issues facing the fashion industry including the size zero debate, UK production v overseas production, IP issues and the difficulties facing new designers of today. We are hoping to be meeting again with her shortly. Can I sincerely thank everyone involved who has made the Barking store opening a success. Now the real hard work starts!”

None of this would have been made possible without the outstanding support that has been received by Simon Green the Vicarage Fields Manager who commented;

“Today has been a most rewarding and enjoyable experience. The crowds did flock to the fashion show and great interest has been generated by the opening of the Enter Boutique. It was excellent to see MP Margaret Hodge and the Mayor Fred Barns arrived too there is so much talent and potential in Barking for fashion and today certainly showed everyone that Barking will be well and truly on the fashion map.”
